Mürren is a mountain village, in the Jungfrau Region without any cars. It boasts views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks towering over 4,000 meters high. Is renowned for its outdoor pursuits and rich Alpine heritage.
The charm of Mürren lies in its architecture and the local Mürren dialect. Situated at an elevation of 1,650 meters above the Lauterbrunnen Valley it holds the title of being the year round village in the canton of Bern.
Visitors can reach Mürren from Lauterbrunnen via a cable car to the plateau or from Stechelberg, on a cable car journey that offers views of cascading waterfalls and sheer cliffs before arriving at the car haven of Mürren. The journey continues to Schilthorn peak at an altitude of 2,970 meters.

The resort is a place to kick off your adventure with a range of activities, like hiking (with 200 km of trails) excursions and fun experiences. Hop on the railway to Allmendhubel perched at 1907 meters above the village. Explore themed hikes like the Nordface Trail showcasing mountaineering history or the Flower Panorama Trail offering views of flower filled meadows. Families can enjoy play areas and picnic spots.
Experience views of the Aletsch Glacier on the glacier trail or venture along the Eigers north face, on the North Face Trail.
For treks delve into the nature reserve of Hinteres Lauterbrunnen Valley or hike through Sefinental to reach Kiental via Sefinenfurgge pass.
Mürren in winter
The winter sports area of Mürren Schilthorn provides skiers and snowboarders, with 53 kilometers of maintained slopes toboggan runs and a network of winter hiking paths. Apart from the Lauterbrunnen Valley the Jungfrau Region boasts 30 lifts and 160 kilometers of slopes across its ski areas. Additionally there is an 11 kilometer country skiing trail between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen, in the valley.

Schilthorn
The Schilthorn with an altitude of 2,970 meters is another breathtaking mountain peak in the Bernese Oberland region. You can reach the Schilthorn from the mountain village of Mürren by cable car. It is famous for its viewing platform and 360-degree panorama with the revolving restaurant “Piz Gloria”. The restaurant rotates on its own axis for 45 minutes, presenting the most magnificent natural spectacle in the entire Alpine massif.
The James Bond 007 film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” was shot on the Schilthorn in 1969.
Via Ferrata
The “Via Ferrata” in Mürren is famous for climbing. The ascent is made using iron steps, special steel cables, ladders and clamps. These are already installed for the climbers and are regularly checked for safety. The “Via Ferrata” was originally developed for military purposes and is now used as an adventure sport and tourist highlight.
Thrill Walk Felsensteg Birg

From the Birg terrace, the breathtaking THRILL WALK rock walkway offers a spectacular descent into the vertical walls of the impressive rock massif of the middle station. The steel construction follows the contours of the rock, then swings under the viewing platform and the cable car and finally ends below the cable car station.
Blumental Panorama Trail
The Blumental-Panorama Trail leads from Allmendhubel via Suppenalp down to Mürren in an hour with the best views of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate. The summer meadows in bloom enchant the landscape with their unforgettable colors.
Mountainbiking
With numerous routes through the Alps, Mürren is a popular place for mountain biking. There are easy beginner routes as well as challenging trails for experienced riders.
Paragliding
For adrenaline junkies, there are also paragliding opportunities in Mürren. From the Schilthorn or the surrounding mountains, you can take to the skies with an experienced guide and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the breathtaking landscape.
Mürrenbach Falls
A popular excursion destination is the Mürrenbach Falls, the highest waterfall in Switzerland with an impressive drop of 417 meters. The waterfall is located near the valley station of the cable car to Mürren in Stechelberg, where the Mürrenbach flows into the Lütschine. It is also clearly visible from the cable car. The waterfall is easy to reach from Mürren and offers spectacular views.
Folklore Mürren
Alpine culture is alive and well in Mürren. Alphorn players from all over Switzerland come to Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. You can sample local specialties such as cheese and ham in numerous traditional Alpine huts.
Alpine cheese dairies
Alpine cheese dairies are very popular in Mürren. They offer visitors the opportunity to marvel at and taste mountain cheese production on site. The cheese produced in the alpine cheese dairies is of a higher quality than industrially produced cheese, as it is made from fresh raw milk from grazing cows in the region and is produced without preservatives.
Of course, you can also bring a wheel of cheese home with you.
