The Margherita Hut, also known as Capanna Regina Margherita can be found on the Signalkuppe within the Monte Rosa massif perched impressively at an elevation of 4,554 meters. The renowned Margherita Hut, established in 1893 bears the name of the Queen Margherita of Savoy to whom Neapolitan pizza makers honored by creating the Margherita pizza. Despite its location the hut boasts amenities. While staying there guests have the option of selecting either board or a breakfast buffet with rave reviews, about the quality of the Margherita pizza.

The Margherita hut – Capanna Regina Margherita – is best reached from the Gnifetti hut (3,625 m). First ascend to the Zurbriggenjoch. Cross the pass, pass the Seserjoch on Swiss territory and continue steeply towards the Signalkuppe.

The hut is an ideal starting point for glacier tours to the Zumsteinspitze, Dufourspitze, Nordend and Liskamm peaks.
