Historical route from Lucerne to Altdorf

It is advisable to bypass the busy Axenstrasse with an attractive boat trip from Brunnen to Flüelen.
Route description
- Start: From Lucerne railroad station, turn right and then follow Cycling in Switzerland Route 3 towards Altdorf.
- Km 15.5: In Stansstad, follow routes 3 and 4 in the direction of Altdorf.
- Km 19.6: In Stans, continue on routes 3 and 4.
- Km 28.0: Take the ferry from Beckenried to Gersau (half-fare and GA travelcard not valid).
- 28.0 km: In Gersau, follow routes 3 and 4.
- Km 37.0: In Brunner, continue to follow routes 3 and 4. Caution: the Axenstrasse is very busy. Alternatively, you can take the boat from Brunnen to Flüelen.
- Km 49.0: In Flüelen cycle in the direction of Altdorf.
- Km 52.4: In Altdorf, follow the cycle sign towards the station. To visit the old town, turn left here.
- Km 53.0: Regular trains run from Altdorf station via Schwyz back to Lucerne.
