The vacation resort of Arosa in Graubünden is located at an altitude of around 1800 meters. Surrounded by impressive mountain peaks, the region offers an extensive hiking area in summer and a wide range of winter sports in winter.
Thanks to its location in an open valley basin, Arosa enjoys a high level of sunshine and is largely spared from strong winds. Arosa has been known as a renowned alpine climatic health resort since 1877. Arosa can be reached by Rhaetian Railway from Chur or by car via an impressive route with numerous tunnels, past the smaller resort of Langwies.
Arosa offers special hospitality in summer with the Arosa All-Inclusive Card: guests staying just one night – whether in a vacation apartment, on a campsite or in a hotel – receive free offers. Cable car rides to the Hörnli and Weisshorn, the rope park, admission to the Schanfigger local history museum, bike hire and much more are included in the card.

The hiking area in Arosa stretches over 200 kilometers and offers a wide variety of walking and hiking trails. One recommended route is the 10-lake hike, which leads over 15 kilometers from one clear mountain lake to the next.
The Schanfigger Höhenweg, a circular hike from Chur to Arosa and back, impresses with rustic huts and a picturesque cultural landscape in the middle of the alpine mountains.
For mountain bikers, there are various trails to explore in Arosa and Lenzerheide. There is also a bike park, skills center, bike schools and exciting bike events where you can watch or take part yourself.

The Arosa Lenzerheide winter sports region offers skiers and snowboarders an impressive range of 225 km of slopes with guaranteed snow. Thanks to the ski area connection between the Arosa Hörnli and the Lenzerheide Urdenfüggli, guests can easily commute back and forth between the two destinations and explore the diverse ski area.
Winter hikers have 140 km of groomed walking and hiking trails to enjoy the snow-covered landscape. Freestylers have the opportunity to use two snow parks and a funslope to show off their tricks and jumps. Snowshoers, (night) tobogganers, cross-country skiers, curling and ice stock players also get their money’s worth in Arosa Lenzerheide and can enjoy their favorite activities.

AROSA Bear sanctuary
On August 4, 2018, the Arosa Bear Sanctuary was opened in Schanfigg, Graubünden. It is the first bear conservation project of the animal welfare organization “Vier Pfoten” in Switzerland. The bear sanctuary, which is located at an altitude of 2,000 m, was created in collaboration with Arosa Tourism, the municipality of Arosa and Arosa Bergbahnen.
A total of up to five bears rescued from poor husbandry conditions will find a species-appropriate new home on an area of around 2.8 hectares. Each bear has an area of 5000 square meters at its disposal.
The facility is also used for tourist purposes and is usually open to visitors continuously from June to October. However, if there is enough snow and the bears are active, it is also possible to open selectively outside this period.
