The Tinguely Museum situated in Basel is a known art institution that celebrates the life and creations of the artist Jean Tinguely. Established on October 3 1996 it can be found in Solitudepark on the side of the Rhine River.

This museum was generously given to the city and region of Basel by F. Hoffmann La Roche Ltd as a gesture, for the companys centennial anniversary. It showcases an array of Tinguelys artworks, featuring both a display and rotating exhibitions curated by Tinguelys acquaintances and other notable artists.

The museum was created by the architect Mario Botta. Stands out as a masterpiece itself. Inside there is a hall that can display, up to twenty pieces by Tinguely creating an awe inspiring setting.

An interesting architectural detail of the museum is the structure on the southern side, which seems distinct from the main building. This section acts as a walkway, above the Rhines banks giving visitors a perspective of the river that they can enjoy while crossing over it.

The Museum Tinguely houses the world’s largest collection of Jean Tinguely’s artworks making it a key destination for those fascinated by his life and creations.

Its permanent exhibition provides a look at Tinguelys journey spanning four decades.
