San Salvatore – landmark of Lugano

Highlights Ticino

Like the Sugar Loaf Mountain for Rio de Janeiro, Monte San Salvatore is a striking landmark for Lugano. The hill climbs majestically over the city as well as provides a fantastic sight of Lake Lugano, the Po Valley as well as the Savoy as well as Swiss Alps.

A funicular railroad runs from the suburb of Paradiso in Lugano to the mountain peak at 912 m. From the top station, you can reach the viewing platform at the chapel on the summit in just 10-15 minutes on foot.
