Swiss folklore show on Harder Kulm

During the season from May to October, the Harder Kulm is transformed into a stage. Swiss folklore is performed here with music and dance. This means you can meet alphorn, organs and yodelers and listen to the concert free of charge.

Restaurant Harder-Kulm

The restaurant on the “Top of Interlaken” is known throughout the country for its excellent cuisine. For this reason, there are often long queues at the Harder Kulm cable car on vacation days and weekends. The restaurant has room for around 500 guests, so everyone can find a seat. Lake Thun stretches out on the right-hand side, while Lake Brienz can be seen on the left. In between is the enchanting town of Interlaken. The majestic peaks of the Mönch, Eiger and Jungfrau can be admired in the direction of Lütschental between the two lakes. The view is simply phenomenal, and you can even make out the breathtaking gorge of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The sunset is particularly impressive, when the last rays of the day bathe the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in a brilliant red.

Harder Kulm circular trail

This family-friendly circular hike in the Emmental Alps leads along the Hardergrat ridge (1,445 m) around Interlaken’s popular local mountain, the Harder-Kulm (1,322 m), and takes around 1.25 hours.

During the hike, visitors can expect not only a breathtaking view of the Bernese Alps with the majestic peaks of the Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch, but also the deep blue glow of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz at their feet.

The starting point of the hike is the Harderbahn mountain station. Passing the panorama restaurant, the circular route initially leads up a stony but fairly wide mountain path to the Hardergrat ridge, which is quite steep.

Harderbahn - Harder railroad

From the ridge, there is a pleasant descent on a narrow path down to the Wanniwald forest. The route then continues to the Elfenweg and finally returns to the Harder Kulm.

The journey to Interlaken’s local mountain, the Harder Kulm, couldn’t be easier. The Harder Kulm funicular railroad takes you from Interlaken to the mountain station in just 10 minutes, making the journey to the summit a breeze.

The Harder Kulm funicular operates from mid-April to November. The ride on the funicular offers breathtaking views over the lakes and into the Bernese Alps along the way.
